By the time most couples get to the point that they are willing to try egg donation, they have already been through a lot of fertility treatments and disappointments. Egg transplants are not usually a first option, but one that is turned to when all other avenues have failed. As a result, the couple often sees the egg donor as the person who is giving them a final chance to give birth to a child they desperately want.
